Maria McGinnis is a senior journalism major and the editor in chief of The Burr. She also has minors in photography, psychology and advertising. Maria is also the web editor for A Magazine and the features/opinion editor for The Kent Stater. In her spare time, she loves to do yoga, play piano, watch Netflix and spend time with family, friends and her dog.
Sara Crawford is a junior journalism student from Lakewood, Ohio, with a minor in public relations. This will be her third semester working for The Burr, and she is the managing editor this semester. In addition to working for The Burr, she is an assigning editor for The Kent Stater. She has always had a passion for writing, starting with short stories about her friends and dog throughout elementary school and advancing from there. Sarah Riedlinger is a senior visual communication design student with a celebrity crush on Ewan McGregor. She, therefore, has no qualms with the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy and will probably sit through “Birds of Prey” just for him. Her favorite typeface is currently Tortellini, and she has been wasting a lot of time playing “Stardew Valley” lately. That is really all you need to know. Elise Jennings is a senior visual communication design major with a minor in marketing. She has a passion for the environment and is always seeking new experiences. Sophia Adornetto is a senior advertising and photojournalism student. Nina Palattella is a senior English major with minors in writing and digital sciences. This is her third semester working for The Burr and her second semester serving as copy desk chief. Nina is the editor in chief of Brainchild, the literary and arts magazine that publishes the work of honors students attending schools in the Mid-East Honors Association Region. She is also the writing intern for the Kent State University Honors College. She has previously served as an editorial intern for New American Press and an editor for Luna Negra. Emily Palombo is a senior English major at Kent State with a minor in professional and technical writing. Emily is a manager tutor at the Writing Commons in the University Library and has been there for three years. She serves as the president of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honors society, of which she has been a member for four years. Emily has a passion for literature and writing and in her free time can likely be found curled up in her hammock reading a Stephen King novel.

Toye Larry III is a senior advertising major with a minor in interpersonal communication. He is the business promotions assistant, and this is his first semester working for The Burr. When he is not studying and doing work in Franklin Hall, you can find him working at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. After graduation, he plans to move to work for an advertising agency in a bigger city.
Abigail Bottar is a junior political science major with a concentration in American politics and minors in history and women’s studies. Along with working at The Burr, Cameron works for The Kent Stater designing the pages for the newspaper. After graduation, she hopes to work for a design agency in a big city. Dominica “Nicky” Hoover is a freshman studying visual communication design at Kent State. She is from Beaver, Pennsylvania. She studied visual arts and graphic design at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School, where she also acted as design editor for a nationally recognized literary arts journal, Pulp. Drew Donovan is a sophomore visual communication design major with a minor in digital media production. This is his first semester as an illustrator for The Burr. Drew is a lifelong illustrator and artist, as well as an avid gamer. He dreams of someday working for Adult Swim designing characters or writing scripts. If that does not work, then he will go where the wind takes him.

Abby Rickabaugh is a junior studying studio arts and photography. She is a photographer this semester for The Burr and loves telling stories through photographs. She is passionate about international travel and learning about other cultures, and she wants to pursue travel photography after graduating. Her other hobbies include playing the piano, making art, running and hiking.

Mikey Indriolo is a senior at Kent State majoring in journalism and digital media production. He chose to focus on visual storytelling because he finds it an integral part of his passion for humanity. He wants to visually tell stories that explore the complexity of the human condition.
