We all know fashion will always be a way to express yourself; it’s a way to express your feelings without actually saying how you feel. For some, fashion is an outlet to show your personality, but for others, it’s simply a lifestyle — whether you are wearing a vintage piece or something that is new to the world.
Isabel Marant Bekett wedge sneakers
Let’s go back in time to 2011, when the Isabel Marant Bekett wedge sneakers were first released. This wedge sneaker instantly became an “it shoe” for fashion lovers.
Many people loved this timeless sneaker; L’Officiel says, “The wedge sneaker was easily the most notorious shoe at the time, with celebrities like Beyoncé and Rihanna sporting them in their music videos.”
Yes, many people thought it was just an ugly sneaker with a wedge, but to others it was something more. Gen Z has given this sneaker a comeback — you can see the generation rocking the shoe all over TikTok, Instagram and even X. People are reselling these sneakers on apps like Depop and Grailed. The retail price for these sneakers is skyrocketing, but that’s a conversation for another day.
Isabel Marant has since rebranded its Beckett wedge sneaker and renamed the shoe “Balskee,” according to ABC News.
“This time around, the company has redesigned and renamed its latest release ‘Balskee,” drawing inspiration from the original along with a slightly updated sculptural look,” it says.
To some, it is still a classic, timeless, sporty fashion statement. So, tell me, will you be buying these sneakers?
Baggy jeans
Baggy jeans have been a statement piece since the mid-1990s. I’m sure you’ve mostly seen them in hip-hop.
“Popularized in the ’90s, wide denim came at a time where a huge cultural shift was settling in,” according to Culted. “Moving away from the rockstar born in the ’50s to the hip hop artist such as Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G., fashion was bound to follow.”
Wearing baggy jeans today is a way to feel comfortable and flexible while still pulling off a fashionable look. It’s almost as if Gen Z has thrown out their skinny jeans to buy more baggy jeans. Style publication Who What Wear www.whowhatwear.com speaks about this in their article, mentioning how Gen Z is bringing these styles of jeans back.
“Thanks to Gen Z, who didn’t experience the trends the first time around (unlike this “officially” geriatric millennial), these 20-year-old looks are now on the rise,” it says.
As I have mentioned, fashion is a way to express yourself without really saying it. There are so many ways to style baggy jeans when you’re feeling sad, happy or just not in the mood. These jeans simply steal the show — whether you’re sporting a simple tank top or an oversized hoodie.
Now that you know baggy jeans are in and skinny jeans are out, where will you be purchasing baggy jeans?
Since these two fashion pieces have made the ultimate comeback, what other fashion pieces do you think will be next?
