One of my favorite things to do ever since I was little is traveling. My parents took me on my first trip out of Ohio when I was five months old, and we’ve just kept it going since then. While I traveled quite a bit in my life, there are so many more places I want to go to — some that people wouldn’t even believe. I could talk about all the places I long to go for hours, but for now, we’ll talk about some that make me the most excited!
A place that’s close to home that I want to visit again once COVID-19 ends is New York City. I visited a few times before, but I’m a total city girl and love everything about it. The buildings, Central Park, Broadway and maybe just a little bit of shopping all make for an absolutely amazing trip regardless of how long the trip ends up being.
I’ve been to a lot of places in the United States but never internationally. I want to visit a lot of places in Europe, and if I can right out of college, that would be phenomenal. Germany, England and Switzerland are at the top of my list. I’ve wanted to go to London since I first watched “Harry Potter.” I’ve always been fascinated with Big Ben and everything about the culture.
When I was in middle school, my dad went to Germany for work. I begged for him to take me with him, but he wasn’t allowed to take anyone with him besides my mom. She passed on the trip though, and wow was I angry. She took my only opportunity and didn’t even go! What a rip off.
Unlike Germany and England, there aren’t any specific reasons that inspire me to want to travel to Switzerland. I don’t have a specific reason as to why I want to go there honestly, I just know that it’s absolutely gorgeous. I don’t ski, and I don’t know a ton about their culture or history, but it’s just somewhere I always thought would be fun to travel to.
All those places and that’s just Europe. This next place I want to visit is a little out there, but if I got the offer to go, I’d say yes in a heartbeat: Antarctica. Even though it’s frozen and barren, this is one I think would be the most memorable. I would love to take an expedition and document how my trip would go. How many people do you know have been to Antarctica? I bet the answer is slim to none for most people. I would be the person that has been to Antarctica for all my friends and family to brag about.
Let’s go to the next continent, shall we? Australia always comes to mind when it comes to my future trips. Seeing the Sydney Opera House, snorkeling around the Great Barrier Reef and visiting the pink beaches of Lake Hillier all sound beyond amazing and are a great itinerary for a trip to the beautiful continent across the globe. I think it would also be so odd to go in the summer and potentially see it snow since they are in the opposite hemisphere. That could almost make me appreciate Ohio weather!
With COVID-19 following us into 2021, we aren’t able to travel many places right now. Eventually, we will travel again, and I can’t wait. There are so many trips to plan and vacations just waiting to be taken.
