The Egg Burner: Banana Chocolate Mug

The+Egg+Burner%3A+Banana+Chocolate+Mug

Hello and welcome back to The Egg Burner! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this challenging time.

Never did I think I would live through a global pandemic, but it has become our new reality. While I, and I’m sure many others, are becoming increasingly stir-crazy, let us not forget about doctors and nurses who are risking their lives every day to help others. They are honestly real-life superheroes.

If you’re looking for something yummy to eat while social distancing, you came to the right place. I found the perfect recipe for a microwavable treat that I think is the perfect comfort food during this time: Banana Chocolate in a Mug!

This treat is not only delicious, but is incredibly easy and quick to make. Not to mention, Banana Chocolate in a Mug and Netflix shows are a great pairing. 😉

The equipment needed is minimal…

  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife
  • Teaspoon/Tablespoon measuring cups
  • Your favorite mug

…and the ingredients are simple.

  • 1 slice bread ($1.88 at Walmart)
  • 1 egg ($1.45 at Walmart)
  • 2 tablespoons milk ($1.30 at Walmart)
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder ($2.48 at Walmart)
  • 1 banana, sliced ($0.24/each at Walmart)
  • Chocolate chips, to taste ($1.98 at Walmart)
  • Whipped cream, to taste ($2.37 at Walmart)
  • Chocolate syrup, to taste ($1.53 at Walmart)

To start off, I evenly sliced the bread and banana.

Next, I combined the egg, cocoa powder and milk in a mixing bowl.

Once the ingredients were combined, I grabbed my favorite mug—my cat mug, of course. I placed half of the sliced bread and banana as well as some chocolate chips into the mug. Then I added the remaining bread, banana and more chocolate chips.

After that, I poured the mixture into the mug.

Once the mixture was added, I placed the mug in the microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds.

Then I took the mug out of the microwave and allowed it to sit for a few minutes. Be careful when taking your mug out of the microwave, because it will be hot!

Finally, I topped the treat off with whipped cream and chocolate syrup.

There you have it: Banana Chocolate in a Mug!

Again, this is a tough time for all of us, so I encourage you to check in on others and seek out the good when at all possible. I hope this recipe brings some good into your life. 🙂
