Since it was founded in 1910, Kent State University has made one of its main missions to ensure that students are provided with the resources they need to be both successful and happy. The university strives to accomplish equality and promote advocacy, support and education for all students.

More specifically, it can be challenging for women to find resources that would benefit their needs and wants for their lives. America is beginning to experience changes as its new president, Donald Trump, sets in motion his plans and new administration picks.

After Trump’s 2025 inauguration, women’s health resources have been threatened. He is threatening to take away the health resources that women have in America, which may include both physical and mental resources, as his new presidential plan can have a significant impact on women. 

Although it’s scary to think of these resources being taken away, it’s important to understand the resources we hold. Kent State University will continue to make it their priority to support its students no matter what.

One of the most beneficial resources that the university provides is its women’s center. The KSU Women’s Center was established in 1996, and since then, has been helping women throughout the university. 

The KSU Women’s Center states, “The Kent State University Women’s Center leads and supports efforts for equity for female/female identifying students, faculty and staff, through alliances of advocacy and care.”

The women’s center additionally provides fun and educational activities for anyone to get involved with. They provide education for Women’s History Month, International Women’s Day and ways that you can vote to help support women globally. 

Additionally, they provide emergency assistance to students that need funding for school, academic supplies, food, shelter and everyday items. They provide education for academic programs, reproductive help and scholarships. Even though women’s resources are scarce at the moment, The women’s center is here to provide help to their students in many ways.

Not only ways that you can get involved on campus, but around the world as well. If students want to get involved with the Kent State University Women’s Center, they also accept interns. 

Another impactful resource for women is the LGBTQ+ center. 

The Kent State LGBTQ+ Center states that their mission as: “The mission of the Kent State LGBTQ+ Center is to support an inclusive environment on all KSU campuses, advocate for all individuals and campus and community groups based on sexual and gender identity, maintains organizational capacity so that the work of the Center is efficient and effective, and builds community and a sense of belonging to support an inclusive environment.”

It can often be hard for women to find health resources, but the LGBTQ+ center provides both physical and social resources that can benefit women throughout the university. They provide counseling services, financial support, legal services, academic support, as well as  many student organizations that also provide help.

Kent State University’s inclusivity and diversity mission has been providing women’s health resources for years. The women’s center and LGBTQ+ Center provide ways to gain help or education on campus. Both centers work to ensure that women gain the help that they need to be successful. 

Trump’s new plan could potentially pose a threat to women, as his administration may not continue to have the resources that they have held for years. Although the new presidential plan makes it difficult to remain comfortable with women’s resources, it’s important to understand the organizations that we still have, and remember that they are here for students.
