Hello all! As promised, I’m back with some more of your new favorite bands! There has never been a better time to kick out new jams to look on the bright side.
As we wrap up a strange trip of a semester, we also wrap up Speakeasy Sounds. Hopefully I’ll be back next semester with you, and your newest favorite tunes.
Everything is rough, I know. It’s not weak to reach out for help. I implore you to reach out to your friends and family as we traverse these challenging times. If you need to talk to somebody about feeling suicidal, please contact the National Suicidal Hotline. 1-800-273-8255
With that somber note, let’s jump into it!
The Ghost of a Sabre Tooth Tiger (GOASTT) (psychedelic pop)
The Ghost of a Sabre Tooth Tiger, or GOASTT, is an American band that delivers an alternative pop feeling. The band has several songs in English as well as French.
The albums are heavily produced and loaded with subtleties. I would recommend this band if you’re into psychedelic anything, and/or beach goth.
You have got to check out this band because they will definitely broaden your music horizons. While you’re listening to this band make sure to check out their song, “Robot Boy” on their album, “La Carotte Bleue.”
Bomb the Music Industry (pop punk)
I would recommend this band if you are into bands like Blink-182, Against Me! or The Offspring. Bomb the Music Industry features a punk attitude accompanied with high-energy keys and fast guitars.
These guys are a great listen no matter what kind of bands you’re already into. They offer satirical lyrics and a beat that makes you want to jump.
For this listen, I highly recommend their song “Syke! Life is Awesome!” on their 2005 album, “To Leave or Die in Long Island.” If you have the time to listen to the whole album, listen to the whole album. It might give you some feels, but they are feelings worth feeling.
The Microphones
If you’re into the Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins or any grunge, you’ll really dig The Microphones. The Microphones give you a distorted, ambient sound that will take you away. Any grunge-being will truly appreciate the sounds The Microphones emit.
I haven’t heard all of their music yet, so if you find a new favorite let me know!
They have several albums, so of course they have many great songs to listen to. While you are checking out their many great albums, make sure to check out “I’ll Be in the Air,” on their album “Don’t Wake Me Up.”
Euringer (electric punk)
I don’t have many bands to compare Euringer to. If you used to, or still do, listen to Mindless Self Indulgence, here is their lead singer gone solo: Jimmy Urine.
Euringer has one album out, as of now. This album has a well-intended flow, so I would recommend that you listen to this album front to back. The album features great artists including Grimes and Gerard Way. This whole album is so solid.
For this listen, might I recommend “That’s How Jimmy Gets Down,” on Euringer’s self titled album.
I hope you love your new music! Like I said before, I know we will get through this. We are strong alone, but we are stronger together. Please feel free to contact me via email, or follow me on insta. Stay cool, time heals all wounds. I hope to be back with more Speakeasy Sounds! I’ll see you on the other side of the tunnel.
